Perhaps you understand the process of Winter Park, FL cremation itself, but you may not know what happens before or after the procedure. Before you choose this disposition method for a loved one, or for yourself as part of your pre-arrangements, you might want to know more about what happens around the service. Here are a few things that can occur:

Winter Park, FL cremation

Before: The Transportation

One of the first things that will happen is that family members of the deceased call the cremation provider and the cremation provider then transports their loved one’s body to their facilities. They will be in charge of caring for the person until the cremation occurs.

Before: The Paperwork

Before cremation can occur, the funeral home must have a death certificate on hand and it must be an official copy. They can help you to obtain that certificate if you do not know how to do so and they can advise you as to how many copies you might want on hand for other purposes. You will also have to sign consent forms for cremation and other essentials.

Before: Possible Service Decisions

If you already know that you want to have a service of some kind for your loved one, you might make those decisions and at least start the arrangements before the cremation takes place. This is not something you have to decide beforehand, however. Cremation allows you to have your own timeline. Some people like to plan something right away while others like to wait for a bit and take their time with plans. If you want to move forward, you can. Otherwise, waiting for later is perfectly acceptable as well.

After: The Services

Many families choose to have a service of some kind after cremation takes place. Just because your loved one is cremated doesn’t mean you can’t memorialize them with a service. Most choose to have a memorial service, but some also enjoy celebrations of life. To keep things simple, some families just have an ash scattering to give their loved one a final resting place.

After: Permanent Memorials

Once the cremation has taken place and possibly services of some kind, you can also put together some kind of permanent memorial for your loved one, if you’d like. You could dedicate a park bench to them, carve their name into a cement block for your garden, or do any number of other things to remember them as the years go by.
